We are looking for an Emergency Services Manager to join a team of professionals responsible for providing the best in emergency response, risk reduction, and security services at Amazon. This security professional will have overall responsibility for the management and leadership of day-to-day Emergency Services Unit (ESU) operations, key customer engagements, budget management, strategic planning, and performance measurement. This person will have a strong bias for data/metrics and possess a strong background in protecting people, places, and assets through the application of industry-related best practices. Although this is a remote position, the candidate will need to be in commuting distance of our Arlington, VA offices.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop Emergency Services Unit teams across multiple sites in a 24/7 environment. Work with diverse teams and cultures.
  • Facilitate development of short- and long-term strategy for ESU initiatives, developing roadmaps with actionable and auditable plans, driving requirements for each initiative, leading cross-functional internal and external teams. Execute initiatives with a focus on enhancing the protection of life, property, operations, and company reputation.
  • Set and articulate expectations for leadership behavior within the team; model behavior that exemplifies Amazon Leadership Principles.
  • Balance team goals that optimize performance, enhance employee development, and align department goals.
  • Manage staff to ensure work is complete, resolve employee issues, evaluate employee performance, approve time off, etc.
  • Manage and maintain high performance standards through inspection, audit, and coaching.
  • Assist in the evaluation of candidates, participate in interviews, hiring, and training of employees and contractors, as needed.
  • Design and coordinate cohesive responses to security events that involve multiple teams across the organization.
  • Make data-driven decisions, implement best practices, and deliver results.
  • Establish credibility and maintain strong working relationships with law enforcement, private security teams, and internal security partners to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risk.
  • Develop a crisis and incident management standard ensuring a consistent process for crisis / incident management efforts ensuring response readiness and system effectiveness, driving continuous improvement of policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Develop comprehensive security, incident management, and crisis management plans that align with our customers' existing security plans, procedures, and protocols.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of security, law enforcement, or intelligence role experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Business Management or related fields.
  • Ability to maintain situational awareness over multiple areas of responsibility.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings and actively participate in the discussion.
  • Working knowledge of legal contracts and terminology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Business Management or equivalent education or experience.
  • Experience in implementation of National Incident Management System standards.
  • Training and understanding of the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative (NSI).
  • Experience in planning and executing security operations for special events.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting fact finding, administrative, and criminal investigations.
  • Experience with security-related technology solutions and applications.
  • Skilled in developing metrics and in conducting performance audits.
  • Experience with the collection and analysis of threat intelligence.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to think clearly, problem-solve, scope technical/process requirements, and prioritize tasks.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
