The ideal candidate is equal parts strategist, writer, and editor, with a strong ability to identify compelling stories and turn them into research reports, case studies, white papers, executive thought leadership, articles, and other high-impact content. This person will work closely with the CMO, Product, Insights, Sales, and Executive Leadership to develop content that supports the company's brand, commercial priorities, and market positioning.

Your Daily Impact as Director, Communications:

  • Define and evolve the company's core narratives, messaging, and points of view across consumer intelligence, advertising, data, and measurement.

  • Identify opportunities to turn InMarket's data, client results, research, and industry expertise into compelling stories and differentiated content.

  • Serve as a trusted editorial partner to executives and internal subject matter experts.

Research, Reports & Case Studies

  • Own the development of high-quality research reports, case studies, white papers, industry insights, and flagship content from concept through publication.

  • Partner with Insights, Product, Sales, and clients to identify compelling data points, customer stories, and market trends that can be developed into content.

  • Conduct interviews with internal and external subject matter experts to uncover insights and build compelling narratives.

  • Translate complex data, technology, and measurement concepts into clear, accessible, and engaging stories.

  • Develop case studies that clearly demonstrate client challenges, InMarket solutions, and measurable business outcomes.

  • Establish editorial standards and processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality across all external content.

Executive & Thought Leadership Content

  • Develop executive thought leadership, including bylines, articles, speeches, presentations, talking points, and LinkedIn content.

  • Partner with executives to develop authentic points of view on relevant industry trends and topics.

  • Identify opportunities to position InMarket executives and subject matter experts as credible voices within the advertising, media, data, and measurement industries.

  • Prepare executives for speaking engagements, interviews, panels, and other external opportunities as needed.

Brand & Content Distribution

  • Partner with Marketing to ensure content is effectively distributed across InMarket's website, social channels, email, events, sales materials, and other owned channels.

  • Develop content calendars and editorial plans that create consistency and momentum around InMarket's key narratives.

  • Work with external partners and agencies as needed to amplify key content and brand initiatives.

  • Ensure all external-facing content reflects a consistent, differentiated InMarket brand.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Insights, Sales, Marketing, and Executive Leadership to identify stories and content opportunities.

  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to develop content that supports customer conversations, sales enablement, and broader GTM initiatives.

  • Build strong relationships with internal subject matter experts and become deeply knowledgeable about InMarket's products, data, technology, and client outcomes.

  • Bring an editorial and storytelling lens to major company announcements, product launches, research releases, and industry initiatives.

Content Performance & Optimization

  • Establish metrics to evaluate content performance, engagement, and contribution to brand and business objectives.

  • Use performance insights to continuously improve content strategy, topics, formats, and distribution.

  • Maintain an editorial roadmap that prioritizes high-impact content aligned with company and commercial priorities.

Your Experience & Expertise:

  • 6+ years of experience in content marketing, brand storytelling, journalism, corporate communications, editorial, or a related field.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong ability to make complex topics clear, compelling, and accessible.

  • Demonstrated experience developing research reports, case studies, white papers, thought leadership, and other long-form content.

  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to develop a distinctive brand voice.

  • Experience interviewing executives, clients, and subject matter experts and turning those conversations into compelling narratives.

  • Ability to independently take a project from idea → research → interviews → writing → editing → final publication.

  • Strong understanding of B2B audiences and the ability to create content that is both intellectually compelling and commercially relevant.

  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple content initiatives simultaneously.

  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in advertising, ad tech, media, consumer intelligence, data, measurement, or marketing technology.

  • Experience working with proprietary research, data, or insights.

  • Experience developing customer case studies and success stories.

  • Experience writing for senior executives and C-suite audiences.

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

4. WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR PHYSICAL WORKSPACE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WORK?

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

The day I watched Marie Forleo's film separating the important from the urgent, my life changed. Not all remote jobs start fast, but most of them are...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
