Senior Manager Technology – Southwest Airlines

Salary: $20-30 per hour (or $166,850 to $185,400 per year based on qualifications).

Location: Hybrid, Dallas, TX (on site at least 3 days per week).

The Senior Manager Technology is responsible for facilitating portfolio evaluations, coordinating with Finance and Human Resources, and implementing Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) practices across the organization. This role requires strong communication skills, an agile, results‑driven mindset, and the ability to deliver innovative solutions in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and influence the achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Fully participate in organizational processes and projects, including performance management, hiring, budgeting, and training.
  • Guide decision‑making for enterprise, team, and individual problems, making appropriate choices.
  • Expand and implement techniques and procedures to improve performance and the cost of services and products.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams to deliver solutions and services that meet business needs.
  • Provide technical management in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Deliver technology solutions using best practices to maximize team productivity while delivering high quality products.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, processes, and solutions relevant to assigned duties.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships and credibility while influencing and driving trade across business and technology teams.
  • Work with technology and business partners to measure economic benefits and demonstrate commercial value.
  • Perform additional process responsibilities as directed by leaders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) and Scaled Agile (SAFe) is desired but not required.
  • Strong understanding of business and leadership principles, planning, organizing, directing, developing, and supervising.
  • Solid grasp of employee practices and policies.
  • In-depth knowledge of software development practices, concepts, methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Advanced expertise in project management methodologies.
  • Excellent partnering, negotiation, and communication skills to interact with business clients and technology teams.
  • Ability to provide tactical leadership for teams.
  • Capability to apply appropriate motivation and influence techniques to achieve desired team outcomes.
  • Ability to set and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Capability to deliver high‑quality work on time and within budget.
  • Proficiency in managing projects using the organization’s project management methodology.

Training & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent formal training).
  • Experience leading teams or projects is an advantage.

Eligibility

  • U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S.; no future sponsorship will be provided.
  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • Ability to maintain a well‑groomed appearance consistent with organization appearance guidelines.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary and to travel for the job, including frequent overnight stays.
  • Must adhere to company attendance and confidentiality requirements.
