Quick Books Online Cleanup Specialist | Long-Term Opportunity with US Accounting Firm - Contract to Hire

About Us

Ascend Advisors is a Los Angeles-based bookkeeping and financial advisory firm serving small and growing businesses across the US. We specialize in bookkeeping, financial reporting, QuickBooks Online cleanup, and CFO advisory services.

We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented QuickBooks Online Cleanup Specialist to assist with several ongoing client projects and potentially become a long-term member of our team.

Responsibilities

* Perform historical bookkeeping cleanup and catch-up work, typically covering 6–12 months.

* Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and payment clearing accounts.

* Identify and correct duplicate transactions, missing entries, and incorrectly categorized expenses.

* Review accounts receivable, customer payments, unapplied payments, and outstanding invoices.

* Match bank deposits to customer payments and sales transactions.

* Reconcile Shopify, Amazon, and other e-commerce transactions when applicable.

* Review balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.

* Maintain clear documentation of corrections and unresolved transactions.

* Communicate questions and findings regularly.

* Prepare books for final review and financial reporting.

Requirements

* QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification required.

* Minimum 3 years of hands-on QuickBooks Online bookkeeping experience.

* Proven experience with historical bookkeeping cleanup and catch-up projects.

* Strong bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliation skills.

* Experience working with US-based businesses and accounting practices.

* Ability to investigate discrepancies and solve bookkeeping problems independently.

* Excellent attention to detail, organization, and written English.

* Ability to meet deadlines and communicate proactively.

* Comfortable working with confidential financial information.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with Shopify, Amazon, Stripe, PayPal, or similar platforms.

* Experience with accounts receivable cleanup and unapplied customer payments.

* Familiarity with intercompany transactions and clearing accounts.

* Previous experience supporting a US-based bookkeeping or CPA firm.

What We're Looking For

We need someone who understands accounting principles and can identify and resolve bookkeeping issues, not simply categorize transactions.

You should be able to work independently, recognize when something doesn't reconcile, investigate the cause, and clearly explain your findings.

The right candidate will be reliable, accurate, proactive, and interested in building a long-term professional relationship.
