Meat Wrapper Sanitation

## Meat Wrapper / Sanitation at Costco Join the Costco team in Santa Clara, California as a Meat Wrapper / Sanitation team member. This role is about ensuring the quality, safety, and presentation of our meat products, all while maintaining a clean and well-organized department. ### What you will do You will be responsible for wrapping and labeling meat products using our automatic wrapping machines. Your day will start by inspecting and reassembling the equipment sanitized the previous night. You'll rework the display case and rotate product to keep everything fresh. Stocking meat display cases and following our production procedures ensures every package meets our high standards for quality and consistency. Using a wrapping machine, you'll take large trays of styrofoam-packaged meat from wheeled racks and place individual packages into the machine, always following safety and security procedures. You'll set the label machine according to product type and price, then print and apply labels to the packaged products. The wrapped and labeled meat is then placed back on trays and wheeled carts for stocking in the display case, which you'll do by reaching through sliding windows or moving the rack directly to the floor. Part of the job involves operating the meat grinder—dumping meat into the top, checking the fat content of each batch from the grinder, and operating the tenderizing machine. You'll also operate the moisture fat tester and manual pallet jack as needed. Throughout the day, you'll be cleaning and sanitizing the area, including windows, and performing duties to comply with health codes, such as maintaining proper temperatures. At the end of your shift, you play a key role in the deep cleaning of the meat room. This includes disassembling equipment and power washing the entire space. You'll wash, apply cleaning agents, wipe, and mop all surfaces and equipment, and empty drain screens. You'll operate the commercial dishwasher, power sink, or wash by hand in three-compartment sinks. You'll also perform routine maintenance on machinery, equipment, and implements. Beyond these core duties, you'll provide prompt and courteous service to our members, ensure proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials, and assist with other department duties as necessary. You may even help out in other parts of the warehouse when needed. This role requires the ability to operate vehicles, equipment, or machinery, and you'll need to be comfortable handling boxes of meat that can weigh up to 99 lbs. ### Benefits We offer a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees, including paid time off, health benefits (medical, dental, vision, hearing aid, pharmacy, behavioral health, and employee assistance), a health care reimbursement account, dependent care assistance plan, short-term and long-term disability insurance, AD&D insurance, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and a stock purchase plan. ### Additional Requirements Open availability is needed to meet the needs of the business, and if hired, you will be required to provide proof of authorization to work in the United States.
