The Role

We are looking for a highly detail-oriented and proactive Intern to join our Copyright team. Based in New York, this role supports the analysis and submission of our clients’ catalogs at the Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC), as well as resolving conflicts of individual works. You’ll play an essential part in ensuring registrations at The MLC are properly updated and maintained, allowing for seamless royalty collections. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who enjoys challenges that require a strong attention to detail, has a meticulous mindset, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare, review, and submit catalog transfers through the MLC portal
  • Perform desktop audits of client catalogs to ensure work registrations and metadata are correct at the MLC
  • Facilitate the end-to-end resolution of work conflicts and overclaims, from gathering required documentation to final resolution
  • Provide general administrative support to the broader Copyright team regarding MLC workflows and inquiries

What You’ll Bring

  • Working knowledge of the MLC
  • Basic understanding of music publishing rights
  • Experience working in an administrative or detail-driven capacity
  • Responsive to timely emails and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently with large volumes of data or documentation
  • Ability to engage with software such as Monday, and emerging technologies
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment
  • A self-starter attitude with a desire to learn and take initiative
  • Proficiency in tools like Google Workspace and Excel/Sheets
  • SQL experience is a plus

Key Behaviors for Success:

Collaboration & Teamwork
You’ll actively participate in team activities, support cross-functional workflows, and share information openly with across departments. Your collaborative approach will help resolve issues constructively and keep projects moving efficiently.

You’ll communicate clearly and professionally, ensuring key details are accurately conveyed across systems and stakeholders. Active listening and clear messaging will help foster alignment and minimize misunderstandings.

Time Management & Prioritization
Your strong organization and planning skills will enable you to meet deadlines and support the smooth administration of client catalogs at the MLC. You thrive in balancing high-volume, detail-oriented work without sacrificing accuracy.
