Inspector Night Shift

  Requisition ID: 44633   Job Description McCrum is a division of McCain Foods USA.   About the role. The Inspector is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and verifying the quality and safety of incoming raw potatoes and finished frozen products. This role ensures compliance with internal quality standards, customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and food safety programs, including HACCP, GMPs, and BRCGS. The Inspector plays a critical role in preventing non-conforming materials from entering or leaving the production process while supporting efficient plant operations and maintaining a safe, audit-ready environment.   What you’ll be doing. Inspect incoming raw potatoes for size, defects, rot, disease, foreign material, and overall quality. Verify supplier compliance with product specifications and contractual requirements. Communicate non-conforming raw material concerns to Quality Assurance and Production teams. Inspect finished frozen products for color, texture, size, defects, uniformity, and conformance to specifications. Conduct routine quality checks throughout production and packaging processes. Monitor critical quality and food safety control points, including metal detection and weight verification activities. Complete inspection records, sanitation logs, and required documentation accurately and on time. Identify and escalate quality, food safety, and contamination risks to leadership when necessary. Support internal and external audits and maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and GMP requirements. Participate in sanitation, housekeeping, and end-of-run cleaning activities to maintain a clean and organized work environment.   What you’ll need to be successful. High school diploma or GED required. 1-3 years of experience in food manufacturing, quality inspection, or a related environment preferred. Knowledge of food safety systems and standards, including HACCP, GMPs, and BRCGS preferred. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify quality defects, inconsistencies, and food safety concerns. Basic computer skills for documentation, data entry, and reporting. Ability to work effectively in a food manufacturing environment, including refrigerated and cold conditions. Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across production and quality teams. Ability to follow established inspection procedures, safety requirements, and sanitation standards. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, climbing stairs or ladders, pushing, and pulling equipment and materials. Commitment to workplace safety, including proper PPE usage, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and hazard reporting.     Compensation Package: Starting at $20 USD hourly + $1.50 hourly pay differential for applicable shifts   The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting.
