HR Generalist I

<strong>Human Resources Generalist<br><br></strong><strong>Location:</strong> Manufacturing Plant (Union Environment)<br><br><strong>Employment Type:</strong> Full-Time<br><br><strong>About The Role<br><br></strong>We are seeking a highly organized and people-focused <strong>Human Resources Generalist</strong> to support our manufacturing facility and union workforce. This position serves as a key resource for employees and leaders by providing day-to-day HR support, maintaining compliance with employment practices, coordinating recruiting activities, administering HR programs, and ensuring accurate employee records management.<br><br>The ideal candidate will be a visible presence on the production floor, build strong relationships with employees and supervisors, and contribute to a positive and engaging workplace culture.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong> <strong>Employee Relations & HR Administration<br><br></strong><ul><li>Provide HR support and guidance for plant employees, supervisors, and managers.</li><li>Interpret and administer company policies, procedures, and employment practices.</li><li>Assist with employee relations matters and support progressive discipline processes.</li><li>Maintain employee personnel files and ensure accurate HRIS recordkeeping.</li><li>Process employee status changes and maintain employee data within HR systems.</li><li>Respond to employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, payroll, and HR programs.</li><li>Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.</li><li>Assist in administering personnel policies and procedures.</li><li>Stay informed on HR best practices and regulatory changes.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Talent Acquisition & Onboarding<br><br></strong><ul><li>Coordinate recruiting efforts for hourly production, administrative, and select exempt positions.</li><li>Create and post job openings, source candidates, and assist with interviewing activities.</li><li>Support temporary staffing recruitment and workforce planning initiatives.</li><li>Process background checks and pre-employment screenings.</li><li>Serve as the facility's I-9 administrator and maintain employment eligibility documentation.</li><li>Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding activities.</li><li>Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion through hiring and employment practices.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Compliance & Safety Support<br><br></strong><ul><li>Conduct periodic audits of personnel files, I-9 records, and HR documentation.</li><li>Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.</li><li>Support Affirmative Action and EEO reporting activities.</li><li>Partner with plant leadership and safety personnel to support workplace safety initiatives and regulatory compliance.<br><br></li></ul><strong>HRIS, Payroll & Reporting<br><br></strong><ul><li>Serve as the plant subject matter expert for HR systems, including ADP and SAP.</li><li>Maintain organizational charts and workforce data.</li><li>Prepare and distribute employee headcount and HR reports.</li><li>Support payroll activities and employee data management.</li><li>Ensure accuracy and integrity of HR information across systems.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Additional Duties<br><br></strong><ul><li>Participate in HR projects and company initiatives.</li><li>Support employee engagement and communication programs.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications</strong> <strong>Required<br><br></strong><ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent.</li><li>Minimum of 5 years of administrative experience in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred<br><br></strong><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.</li><li>Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment.</li><li>Experience supporting a union workforce.</li><li>Payroll experience using ADP and/or UKG.</li><li>Working knowledge of employment laws and labor relations.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Success Factors<br><br></strong><strong>The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate<br><br></strong><ul><li>Strong judgment and decision-making skills.</li><li>Solid HR and business knowledge.</li><li>Commitment to accuracy, quality, and professionalism.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.</li><li>Strong problem-solving capabilities.</li><li>Collaborative and team-oriented mindset.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Initiative, adaptability, and continuous improvement focus.</li><li>Commitment to workplace safety and compliance.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Why Join Us?<br><br></strong>This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a manufacturing environment where employees are at the heart of our success.
