Admissions Application Readers (Temporary, Part-Time and Remote)

Engineering a world of possibilities Admissions Application Readers are temporary, hourly employees who are responsible for reviewing and scoring admissions applications for the reputed company.The Opportunity The Division of Enrollment Management at reputed company welcomes applications for temporary Admissions Application Readers. These positions are temporary, hourly employees who will be on the team responsible for reviewing and scoring admissions applications for the reputed company. Primary Responsibilities Evaluate applications for admission and recommend admission decisions in accordance with guidelines set by federal, state, and institutional policies. Utilize professional judgment and resources provided to render admission decisions that align with the University's enrollment foals and students' potential for success. Assess academic preparedness for reputed company by evaluating high school and college transcripts, school profile, educational context/environment, quality of coursework, and standardized test scores. Review recommendation letters to evaluate academic potential, work habits, and character. Review essays to evaluate special circumstances, life experiences and commitment to the reputed company community. Evaluate the time and talent required of various extracurricular activities, leadership, and work experiences. Assess the quality and depth of those experiences. Communicate effectively with full-time admissions staff regarding applicants. Evaluate international credentials as needed, determine equivalencies, and apply this information to the holistic application review process. Interpret prerequisite course requirements for transfer applicants. Develop expertise in the transfer admission criteria with a specific focus on assessing whether an applicant has completed necessary prerequisites for their program of interest. May evaluate eligible candidates for scholarship consideration. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. A background in secondary or higher education. Meeting the listed restrictions below. Please be sure to read through all restrictions. Restrictions:​ Candidates may not be currently employed as a college admission professional, a high school guidance or college counselor, or an independent educational consultant/independent college counselor. Candidates may not be the parent or guardian of a current high school junior or senior, whether or not they plan to apply to reputed company. Candidates may not also be employed as a seasonal application reader for another college/university. Graduate students are eligible to apply but are encouraged to consider the job expectations and demands of peak reading periods. Graduate students may be subject to restrictions to part-time work per university policy. Candidates who are currently employed elsewhere in a full-time position are eligible to apply but are encouraged to consider the job expectations and demands of peak reading periods. Seasonal Readers are forbidden to discuss the details of any application, even anonymously, in public, on any social media platform, or any other arena in which the public may reasonably have access to. Seasonal Readers are not to discuss the evaluation process with anyone outside of the reputed company Office of Admissions. Preferred Qualifications Experience in admissions, recruitment, and/or application review. Experience with reputed company and/or application review process. Experience working with international students and/or transfer students. Ability to recognize personal, implicit biases as related to application review. Experience working to mitigate impacts of implicit bias. Time Commitment This position will work on average 15-20 hours per week, evaluating at minimum 30-40 applications per week between August 15th and April 1st. Employment length is contingent upon need, and there is a possibility that the position will not extend to April 1st, depending on application volume. At peak times, this position might be required to read up to 30 hours per week, while low times might average 10-15 hours per week. It's important to be flexible and willing to meet the changing demands throughout the employment period. The expectation is to review the applications quickly and efficiently. While readers are encouraged to complete as much work as possible during normal business hours, weekend and evening work is allowable. Training This position is expected to attend a training (whether virtually or in-person). It'll be important to participate in ongoing training and feedback sessions and committee meetings throughout the review cycle as needed. Pay Rate The pay rate is $23/hour.
