About the position

This is an opportunity to connect with TJX Merchandising for future roles. TJX's California Buying Office, located in downtown LA, is unique as it's the only US buying office that purchases for all of TJX's global brands. This office has nearly 300 associates, primarily Merchants, and offers a hybrid work schedule and a collaborative environment. TJX is seeking to network with talented Merchants at all levels interested in career opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Buying product to offer customers a desirable and rapidly changing mix of high quality merchandise at amazing values.
  • Hunting for the hottest brand name and designer merchandise for the entire family and home.
  • Negotiating the best possible price for merchandise from various sources such as department store cancellations, overproduced product, or end-of-season closeouts.
  • Sourcing high quality, fashionable, brand name, and designer merchandise, often at 20%-60% less than full-price retailers.
  • Ensuring merchandise is on-trend, current season styles, with some past season or timeless classics offered at savings.
  • Manufacturing merchandise for TJX or designing it through their own fashion experts when marketplace offerings don't meet value criteria.
  • Working with international artists and sourcing materials globally for unique products.
  • Driving sales results and executing successful buying strategies.
  • Analyzing financial data, strategic planning, and executing plans.
  • Building strong relationships and collaborating with teams.

Requirements

  • Previous Buyer experience
  • Track record of driving sales results and executing successful buying strategies
  • Strong analytical, financial, strategic, and planning skills
  • Exceptional negotiating skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a comfort level in taking measurable risks
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and team collaboration skills
  • Bachelor's degree
