Executive Housekeeper

Job Summary: The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for overseeing the Housekeeping Division, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in guest rooms and public areas. This role involves managing housekeeping team members, developing cleaning procedures, maintaining inventory, and ensuring guest satisfaction. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are: Planning and Organizing Plan manpower requirements to achieve an efficient usage of labor, considering the business needs and seasonal trends. Contribute to the preparation of yearly budgets for the housekeeping department. Remain accountable for revenue objectives. Make recommendations to the Housekeeping Director and/or Managing Director or designate about the upkeep of furnishings, facilities and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good repair as part of the Care Programs. Operations Manage the entire housekeeping division of the hotel. Set and review standards and ensure that they are communicated to all housekeeping team members. Ensure that all public, guest facing and back of house areas of the hotel are properly cleaned at times. Ensure health and safety requirements are adhered to. Ensure the departmental SOPs are current and in effect and are available for all team members to use as reference, revise and update when necessary. Departmental Leadership Supervise and coordinate the activities of housekeeping staff, including room attendants, laundry personnel, and public area attendants. Establish and implement housekeeping policies, procedures, and standards to maintain a clean and well-organized environment. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, hygiene standards, and company policies. Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards are met. Manage housekeeping schedules, assign tasks, and monitor performance to maintain efficiency and productivity. Train, mentor, and develop housekeeping staff, providing guidance and conducting performance evaluations. Manage budgets and control costs related to housekeeping supplies, linens, and labor. Maintain and monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, linens, and guest amenities, ensuring timely procurement and stock control. Coordinate with other departments, including front office, maintenance, and food & beverage, to ensure smooth operations. Address guest requests, complaints, and concerns in a prompt and professional manner. Implement and oversee deep cleaning schedules and preventive maintenance programs. Stay updated with industry trends, housekeeping techniques, and new products to enhance service quality. Ensure that the housekeeping professionals are fully aware of the hotel strategy, and that their work is aligned with these requirements. Liaise with the Resort Manager and Director of Human Resources over all employee matters including recruitment and interviewing. Coach and guide new members of the team, putting in place proper orientation training and ongoing training and development for team members. Control payroll and business expenses of the department. Manage relationships and contracts with suppliers. Ensure lost and found articles are stored properly and that the correct logs are maintained. Coordinate work with external contract cleaners if required. Ensure the par levels of linen, toweling and uniforms are current, a summary report should be sent to accounts. Take an accurate linen inventory bi-monthly. Complete guests’ supply inventory each period ends. Prepare and complete summary each period for critique of all housekeeping areas, all variances or shortfalls to budget must be qualified. Develop and maintain a motivational working environment within the department and positive relations with other departments. Train team members to become multi-skilled in all facets of housekeeping and associate departments. Initiate measures to minimize all wastage of materials and amenities are used in the department. To perform any other related duties and special projects assigned. Skills and Abilities Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate with guests, co-workers and management, both orally and in writing using correct spelling and grammar, in person and on the phone. Ability to interact in a polite, professional, and engaging manner with guests and team members. Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays. Ability to think clearly and remain calm under pressure and in stressful situations. Ability to work cohesively with other departments and co-workers as part of a team. Qualifications and Experience Proven experience as an Executive Housekeeper or in a similar leadership role in the hospitality industry. Strong knowledge of housekeeping procedures, hygiene standards, and cleaning techniques. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize workloads, and work under pressure. Proficiency in housekeeping management software is a plus. High school diploma or equivalent is required; A degree in hospitality management is preferred. Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, walk, and move for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry supplies, equipment, and linens as needed. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on business needs.
