Confluent - Product Manager, Growth Marketer

Introduction

Confluent, an IBM company, is pioneering a new category of data infrastructure: a cloud-native data streaming platform that connects and processes data in real time across applications, databases, and systems. As part of IBM Software, we share a commitment to innovation,

curiosity, and continuous learning. We believe diverse perspectives and authentic collaboration help us earn our customers’ love. We work as One Team across functions, assume positive intent, and aim to create an inclusive environment where everyone can do their best work and grow.

Your Role And Responsibilities

About the Role

At Confluent, growth continues beyond signup. We’re building a product-led growth engine that helps technical users reach first value, build sustained usage, adopt additional products, and connect with expert or sales-assisted support at the right moment.

We’re looking for a Growth Marketing Manager to own that growth and expansion journey. This individual-contributor role sits in Confluent’s R&D Product Department, so you’ll work with both fellow Growth Marketers and Growth Product Managers. You’ll define strategy, lead experimentation, and help customers onboard and adopt multiple products.

What You’ll Do

Own growth & expansion concepts within growth marketing, including email and nurture programs, across onboarding, activation, adoption, re-engagement, and reactivation.

Own expansion campaigns that drive multi-product adoption: help existing customers adopt additional products, deepen usage across the platform, and grow their footprint.

Build segmentation and personalization from product usage, account context, and lifecycle stage, working with Product, Marketing, and Data Science.

Run a prioritized experimentation roadmap: form hypotheses, define test designs and success metrics, interpret results, and decide what to scale, stop, or change.

Work with Product so lifecycle communications and in-product experiences feel like one customer journey.

Explore with Product how AI can create new value for customers using Confluent, and use AI to speed up research, analysis, and program execution.

Build reusable playbooks, measurement standards, and operating processes for lifecycle and expansion marketing.

Where it makes sense, partner with Developer Relations, Community, and Education to drive further product adoption

Preferred Education

Master's Degree

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

What we’re looking for:

4+ years of experience marketing to a technical or developer audience is strongly preferred; especially in growth marketing, lifecycle, product-led growth, or related B2B SaaS marketing

Strong written communication: you can translate technical product value into a clear, credible message for a technical user.

Demonstrated growth marketing craft: you’ve found a growth opportunity, formed a hypothesis, shipped an experiment, measured the result, and scaled or stopped the program based on evidence. You move from ambiguity to a clear hypothesis, a shipped

test, and a decision.

Experience owning lifecycle programs across onboarding, activation, adoption, re-engagement, or reactivation, with segmentation, behavioral triggers, customer journeys, and a lifecycle or marketing-automation platform.

Understanding of usage-based growth, multi-product adoption, expansion, cross-sell, attach, or other ways customers grow after initial conversion.

Comfortable defining strategy and partnering with Marketing Operations to build and ship programs; you stay close enough to execution to write strong briefs, QA the experience, and decide from the results.

Track record working across Product, Data Science, Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing Operations where ownership is distributed.

Hands-on with AI in your own work, and curious about how it can create value for customers and for the team.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

Nice to have:

Experience in developer tools, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, databases, open source, or technical SaaS.

Experience with product-qualified leads or accounts, product-qualified expansion, or usage-based sales motions.

Experience with content marketing, or working with a content team.

Familiarity with Marketo or an equivalent lifecycle platform, and with Amplitude or equivalent product analytics tools.

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? 2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?
