Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join a collaborative behavioral health team in California.

The Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive, patient-centered medical and psychiatric care while working closely with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical histories and appropriate physical examinations
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical and psychiatric conditions within scope of practice
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
  • Order, review, interpret, and follow up on laboratory testing, imaging, and other diagnostic studies
  • Prescribe and manage medications within scope of practice and applicable California requirements
  • Administer medications, treatments, immunizations, and injections when appropriate
  • Monitor patient response to medications and treatment interventions
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, prevention, and ongoing care
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, case managers, and other members of the treatment team
  • Participate in care coordination, referrals, clinical discussions, and interdisciplinary treatment planning
  • Follow organizational policies, quality standards, infection-control procedures, and all applicable California Physician Assistant Board requirements
  • Perform additional clinical responsibilities appropriate to the position and scope of practice

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current and unrestricted California Physician Assistant license
  • Current NCCPA certification (PA-C)
  • Current BLS certification
  • DEA registration or eligibility to obtain DEA registration when required for prescribing responsibilities
  • Ability to practice in accordance with applicable California requirements and an established practice agreement
  • Strong clinical assessment, decision-making, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, mental health, substance use disorder treatment, or a related healthcare setting
  • Experience evaluating and managing patients with co-occurring medical and behavioral health needs
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems
  • Familiarity with medication management and psychiatric treatment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus
  • Previous experience practicing as a Physician Assistant in California is a plus
