Job Summary

We are seeking a vigilant and dedicated Unarmed Security Officer to uphold safety and security across our premises. In this dynamic role, you will be the first line of defense, ensuring a secure environment through proactive surveillance, access control, and customer service. Your presence will help maintain order, prevent incidents, and foster a safe atmosphere for staff, visitors, and property. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your security expertise while contributing to a safe community.

Duties

  • Monitor surveillance systems such as CCTV to detect suspicious activity and ensure property security.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises, including buildings, parking lots, and restricted areas to identify potential security threats.
  • Control access points using access control systems, verifying identities and authorizations of employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations following established procedures, including fire alarms or medical emergencies.
  • Write detailed incident reports documenting any security breaches, accidents, or unusual occurrences for record-keeping and future reference.
  • Perform background checks on new personnel or visitors as part of security screening processes.
  • Assist with conflict de-escalation and conflict management to maintain a peaceful environment while adhering to security regulations.

Skills

  • Strong surveillance skills with experience operating CCTV and other monitoring equipment.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and emergency response protocols.
  • Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting when necessary.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor when interacting with the public.
  • Proficiency in incident report writing with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with security tools such as Taser devices (non-lethal), AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators), and fire extinguishers.
  • Understanding of physical security measures including patrolling techniques and access control systems.
  • Ability to perform first aid procedures including CPR and AED operation confidently.
  • Experience in performing background checks and ensuring compliance with security regulations.
  • Strong conflict de-escalation skills combined with effective communication for conflict management situations.
